Hartford Elementary celebrated Read Across America in honor of Dr. Seuss's (Theodor Seuss Geisel) birthday on March 2. Mr. Geisel published his first children's book, And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, under the name of Dr. Seuss in 1937.

Monday: Random Act of Kindness based on the book Horton Hears a Who

Tuesday: Read My Shirt, wearing a shirt that had writing on it.

Wednesday: Crazy socks for Fox in Socks.

Thursday: green for Green Eggs and Ham.

Friday: favorite hat day or a Dr. Seuss hat for The Cat in a Hat. On Friday, the middle school 6th grade class came over and spent some time reading to and listening to the elementary students read. They were dressed as their favorite book characters and spent time with all of our classes. A big thank you to them for visiting!! :) We also had some volunteers from Central States

All students also received a fun "Cat in a Hat" snack during the week. A big thank you to the kitchen for helping us order them and the Tuesday volunteers for spiffying them up.

If you would like to keep the Seuss Spirit alive you can visit www.seussville.com for more fun and activities!!
