The Hartford Elementary School is participating in a “Super Food Bowl” program during Super Bowl week again this year. We are collecting food items listed below during the week leading up to the Super Bowl and donating the items to our local Food Pantry. This year it’s January 30th – February 3rd. The Super Bowl is February 5, 2017. Each day of the week, the students as well as community members may bring in something different (although any item will be appreciated). See the suggestions for each day below:
Monday, January 30th – Soup Day
Tuesday, January 31st – Canned Vegetable Day
Wednesday, February 1st - Sandwich Filler Day (Peanut Butter, Tuna, Canned Meat)
Thursday, February 2nd – Boxed Meal Day (like Hamburger/Chicken Helper, Tacos, etc.)
Friday, February 3rd – Cereal Day (Wear football/sports shirt)
We have a football graph in the hallway. Each class will compete against the others. For each item brought, each class will move their football player 5 yards. Once they go 100 yards, they score 7 points. At the end of the week, we will see which class wins the “Super Food Bowl.” We would also like students to wear a football or sports related shirt on Friday, February 3rd, if they have one.
We will reward the classroom winner with an extra recess along with a new football for their classroom. Thanks for your help in stocking our local food pantry located in several Hartford churches!
